A Place to Feel Truly At Home.

Our Residential Program offers a supportive, family-style environment where adults with autism are cared for, valued, and guided toward greater independence each day.

For many families, there comes a time when a long-term living solution is needed, one that provides not only safety and support, but also dignity, stability, and a sense of belonging. At Avondale House, we are proud to offer a residential community where individuals can continue to grow while feeling truly at home.

A Community That Feels Like Family

Avondale House provides a supportive, long-term residential option for adults with autism who are unable to live independently or with family. Here, each resident is part of a close-knit household where relationships are built, routines are meaningful, and every individual is valued.

Our homes are designed to foster both comfort and connection, creating spaces where residents feel secure, supported, and included.

Our son Christopher has been a residential client at Avondale House since 1993. (He) comes home every Saturday and is always happy to be home, but he is never reluctant to return to the group home at the end of the day. That speaks volumes in itself."

Daily Life & Meaningful Routines

Life within our Residential Program is centered on consistency, engagement, and shared experiences.

Residents participate in:

  • Family-style living, including shared meals and household routines
  • Evening and weekend recreation, offering opportunities to relax, connect, and have fun
  • Community-based activities and social events, building friendships beyond the home

These daily moments – cooking together, spending time with peers, celebrating milestones – help create a true sense of belonging.

Building Skills for Greater Independence

Every resident is supported in developing the skills needed for daily living and personal growth. With guidance from trained staff, individuals build confidence through:

  • Cooking and meal preparation
  • Laundry and housekeeping
  • Personal hygiene and self-care
  • Communication and social interaction

While support is always present, we focus on empowering each individual to do as much as they can for themselves, fostering independence at every level.

Around-the-Clock Support

Our dedicated staff provide 24/7 care and supervision, ensuring residents’ medical, behavioral, and daily living needs are met with compassion and professionalism.

Families can feel confident knowing their loved one is in a safe, nurturing environment where they are truly known and supported.

More Than a Residence - A Home

At Avondale House, we believe a home is more than just a place to live. It’s a place to feel safe, to build relationships, and to experience joy in everyday life.

Together, shared meals, laughter, routines, and friendships transform a house into something more meaningful – a place where individuals with autism can live with dignity, connection, and purpose.
