Avondale House’s volunteer program offers opportunities to use your talent, whether it involves enjoying recreational activities, photography, or a musical or cooking skill. Your support is always needed and appreciated at Avondale House.

Adult Day Program opportunities

with adult participant interaction (Weekday)

Arts & Crafts

Lead an arts and crafts workshop in one of our adult day classrooms. Examples include painting, drawing, stenciling, etc. (1-4 Volunteers)

Leading an Arts & Crafts Workshop

Anytime between 10:00 – 11:30AM or 1:00 – 3:00PM

Volunteering in Art Class
Tuesday or Thursday
Anytime between 10:00AM – 3:00PM

Cooking

Instruct participants on how to cook and prepare food. Examples include making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, baking cupcakes, cookie decorating, making pizza, etc. (2 – 3 Volunteers)

Wednesday or Friday
Anytime between 10:00AM – 1:00PM

Fitness Fridays

Lead a fitness activity with our adult participants. Examples include dancing, basketball, yoga, etc. (1 – 4 Volunteers)

Friday
Anytime between 10:00 – 11:30AM or 1:00 – 3:00PM

B-I-N-G-O!

 Play a few rounds of Bingo with our adult participants and enjoy an hour of fun and excitement. (1 – 5 Volunteers)

Holiday Parties/Special Events

Home for the Holidays: Help coordinate a memorable holiday experience for our adults by being assigned a resident from our program and purchasing gifts for them to open on Christmas day.

Sponsor A Special Event: Sponsor and coordinate special events for Avondale House adult participants. Examples include themed dances parties, birthday parties, holiday parties, and pizza parties.

Community Outing Assistant

Accompany adult participants while they participate in community-based outings. Outings can include going to lunch, visiting a grocery store, bowling, etc. **Avondale House trained support staff will always be present. ** (1 – 5 Volunteers and time of volunteer opportunity depending on the activity)

Donation Drives

Avondale House is always in need of household supplies for our residential program. Donations of items and gift cards are always welcomed and appreciated.

Landscaping & Gardening

The Avondale House O’Meara campus and our three group homes frequently need landscaping and gardening maintenance. Come help us maintain our flower beds, shrubs, trees, and plants. (1 – 10 Volunteers)

Cleaning Projects

Help us keep our campus clean! Avondale House is always looking for volunteers to help us with the cleaning of the windows, lockers, etc. (1-10 Volunteers)
